QBO Invoice payment fails when parent/child customer on different invoices

Issue submitted by user:

Payment failed when posted to QBO, but processed with the gateway.

I think what actually might be the issue here is which customer record we associate with the payment (at the top level). See screenshot of what I am talking about.I will test this out and see if I can confirm and then make a code change.
